Park Street School is a 240-student elementary school located in the Beacon Hill Historic District. The facility is a 25,000 square foot urban structure that was constructed in 1913 as the first fireproof school building in Boston. Park Street School purchased the building from Emerson College and fully restored it to its original use as a private elementary school. The project included zoning approvals, historic reviews, accessibility improvements, building envelope restoration and extensive interior renovations. Original features were restored while bringing the building and its systems up to current standards.
This project has received three awards:
Massachusetts Historical Commission – Preservation Award for Rehabilitation and Restoration.
Massachusetts Architectural Access Board – Award for Accessible Design and Historic Preservation.
Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts – Build New England Performance Award.
